The Law
For Kafka, « the law » is a powerful, abstract, merciless institution. In the fable « Before the Law » -originally included in « The Process »- he describes characters and context (such as the guard, the man who wants to enter, and a few details about the outside of « the law »), but he gives no further clues about the interior space or any events taking place inside.
I wrote these short paragraphs thinking about the interior of the law, the color versions were part of a painting project that remains unrealized.
