Une revue ne se contente pas de vitrine, puis de faire découvrir, s’il y a lieu, des liens d’une section à l’autre. Elle s’efforce aussi de se faire lire comme un ensemble qui se présente à la fois en morceaux et en mouvement.

Le défi est réel pour une revue comme PLACE, qui n’est pas une revue à programme au sens strict du terme et dont les diverses contributions comptent chacune pour elles-mêmes. L’ambition de PLACE ne touche donc pas seulement à la forme des œuvres et aux échanges entre textes, sons et images. Tout aussi important est le désir de susciter les interactions qui émergent entre les œuvres du sommaire. Le présent numéro explore ces échanges de manière encore plus directe que les précédentes livraisons.

La notion de « fluctuation », qui est au cœur du présent numéro de PLACE, définit cette ambition. La « fluctuation » que nous poursuivons est la tentative de modifier et d’intensifier chacune des œuvres publiées au contact de l’ensemble de chaque numéro, de manière à transformer la lecture en spirale sans fin et les créations en œuvres ouvertes.

Ces relances mutuelles vont au-delà des évidences du texte qui devient objet à voir ou de l’image qui se donne à lire. Dans PLACE les réflexions théoriques provoquent une confrontation avec les créations littéraires et plastiques du sommaire : ainsi les premières se présentent également comme des interventions créatives, tandis que les secondes déploient la dimension critique qui sous-tend et prolonge leurs expériences formelles.

A magazine does not merely look to serve as a showcase, nor simply to reveal, where appropriate, the links from one section to another. It also seeks to be read as a whole that presents itself at the same time in fragments and in motion.

The challenge is a real one for a magazine like PLACE, which is not a magazine with a special line or program in the strict sense of the term, and whose various contributions each stand on their own. PLACE’s ambition therefore does not concern only the form of the works or the exchanges between texts, sounds, and images. Equally important is the desire to generate the interactions that emerge among the works in each issue. The present issue explores these exchanges in an even more direct manner than in previous issues.

The notion of fluctuation, which lies at the heart of this issue of PLACE, defines this ambition. The fluctuation we pursue is an attempt to intensify each published work through its contact with the overall constellation of each issue, in such a way as to transform reading into an endless spiral and the creations into open works.

These mutual reactivations go beyond the obvious gestures of a text becoming an object to be seen or an image offering itself to be read. In PLACE, the theoretical reflections provoke a confrontation with the literary and visual creations featured in the issue: the former thus also present themselves as creative interventions, while the latter unfold the critical dimension that underlies and extends their formal experiments.
